Sin City's biggest little adult anime convention returned for another round of well-intentioned debauchery. TsumiCon Vegas is where anime fans, influencers, cosplayers and porn stars all combine for one of the most fun events of the year. When you strip away the restrictions on adult content that most conventions have, you get to experience a refreshing liberation. Dildos and hentai on display in the vendor hall, tattooing performed on-site in the tattoo hall, pole dancing and burlesque shows - all of this is the norm at TsumiCon.
What TsumiCon might lack in attendance numbers it makes up for in spirit. The show runners and staff put their hearts and souls into making this the best show of its kind. It's truly a fan-run event, with the founders all being veteran convention attendees. David Zheng, one of the founders and Chief Financial Officer of TsumiCon, told me the story of how it started.
"I think we were all just drinking at a con and came up with the idea and we just rolled with it. Luckily, we were all doing different stuff in the industry already so we had the basic knowledge and connections to make it work."
It doesn't get any more grass roots than this - a group of friends who nonchalantly decided to put together an anime convention. Don't let the seeming lack of seriousness sour your opinion of this event. Some of the best things come out of a simple plan with a motivation of fun behind it. If you follow David, you know he can back up the fun with a serious business plan.
The Cosplay
No adult anime convention is complete without adult cosplay. Here are some of the people I met at TsumiCon Vegas. Give them a follow on social media.
