TsumiCon 2024

Tsumicon is an 18+ anime convention based in Las Vegas, Nevada. At just three years old in 2024, it was a baby convention with a meager attendance count. That didn't stop it from have as much fun as a mega convention.

Small conventions can sometimes be lacking in content, events, and... well, basically everything a larger convention has to offer. Everything scales down, but some things drop off entirely. There's no manga room, no anime viewing rooms, no accessibility liason. That's okay, though, because TsumiCon makes up for it in other ways. Have you been to a cosplay burlesque show at an anime convention before? How about a tattoo room with multiple tattoo artists? The opportunity to hold and take photos with live snakes? Yep, TsumiCon has these things.

Let's be clear here. TsumiCon is an adult convention with adult events. That doesn't mean everyone is walking around naked and having sex in the hallways. There are still laws to be observed, even in Vegas. Side note: prostitution is illegal in most of Nevada, including Las Vegas. An adult convention means you'll see booths in the vendor hall displaying dildos and explicit art. Hentai is on full display. Tentacles, succubi, and porn stars fill the room. Weebs are still weebs, but they don't have to be bothered by the censorship you typically see at an all-ages convention. It's quite liberating and refreshing.

Since its inception, TsumiCon has been held at the Alexis Park Resort. This quaint resort is closer to Motel 6 than Ritz Carlton, but it has its charm. The rooms are broken into groups of building much like an apartment complex. Concrete walkways meander the grounds landscaped with grassy areas, trees, some artificial turf, and pools (three in total). Parking surrounds the resort with ample overflow adjacent.

Rooms are modest but comfortable. There are various room layouts from single king to double double and two floor units. Some have various versions of a kitchen. Wall mounted mini-split air conditioning units quietly cool the space while airplanes wake you up. Yep. The resort is very close to the Harry Reid International Airport, so your sleep may very well be interrupted by planes taking off and landing. There's good news though. The resort is located very near the Las Vegas strip. While it might not be within walking distance for some people, an Uber ride is an easy option. Perhaps the best news about The Alexis Park Resort is the cost. It has the most affordable rates of any convention I've attended. Even if you don't make a reservation under the room block, you'll still be paying just a fraction compared to the usual Marriott or Hyatt hotels. Two or three night stays can be had for less than $500 in total depending on your room choice.

While attendance at TsumiCon was in the low thousands, there was ample cosplay. As with the vendor hall, many cosplayers were less concerned about censoring their outfits. It was not uncommon to see people walking around with just pasties covering their breasts. Skimpy swimsuits and lingerie were everywhere. It's easy to focus on the outwardly sexy outfits, but there are many cosplays that were impressive regardless of their sexiness. Creators don't sleep on this con. They still dress to impress.
